Iran Suggests Creating Dedicated Security Framework Within BRICS

Beyond economic cooperation, BRICS has the potential for successful security collaboration and contribution to a new global order, noted Ali Akbar Ahmadian, Iranian Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, on the sidelines of a meeting of BRICS and BRICS+ high-ranking security officials and national security advisers.

"My specific proposal is to create a special BRICS structure to counter common threats such as terrorism, extremism, biological weapons development, drug trafficking, human trafficking, the illegal use of innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence and satellite systems, as well as to create common capabilities to ensure security in cyberspace and maritime transportation," said Ahmadian.

According to the Iranian media, Iran's Security Council chief will meet with Russian and other BRICS security officials during his visit to Russia.
