Iranian President Will Meet With Putin on Sidelines of BRICS Summit in Russia

TEHRAN (Sputnik) - Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian will attend the BRICS summit in the Russian city of Kazan on October 22-24 and will hold a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on its sidelines, Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali said on Saturday.

"Iran's new president, Masoud Pezeshkian, will travel to Kazan in October to attend the BRICS summit, where he will also hold a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin," Jalali was quoted as saying by Iranian state-run news agency Mehr.

Earlier, the Chinese Ambassador to Russia Zhang Hanhui informed Sputnik that talks between Chinese President Xi Jinping and the Russian president are planned during the BRICS meeting in Kazan.
Moreover, this week, the Russian leader invited Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, the president of Mongolia, to attend the BRICS summit.
Following Putin's personal invitation to the association's conference, Malaysia has emerged as one of the nations most likely to join the BRICS, according to Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
