Russia considers the Republic of the Congo to be a very promising country for developing relations; there is a lot of room for growth, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday.
"[The Republic of the Congo] is a very, very promising country for us, a friendly country for the development of bilateral relations, the potential of which is very, very far from being fully exploited, so there is something to work on," Peskov told reporters, adding that the heads of state will discuss this today during negotiations.
Earlier, the Congolese leader told Sputnik that his country is interested in joint projects with Russian companies in hydro, solar and nuclear energy fields.
Furthermore, this week, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that its head, Sergey Lavrov, discussed with his Congolese counterpart, Jean-Claude Gakosso, the strengthening of bilateral relations and the work of the joint intergovernmental commission, which is expected to meet in September.
