Russia to Develop Sports Cooperation Program for BRICS Countries, Russian Minister of Sport Says

On Saturday, BRICS sports ministers held a meeting in the Russian city of Kazan. At the meeting, the ministers recognized the success of the BRICS Games, noted the high level of competition and organization and confirmed the need to create new formats of sports events in BRICS countries.

Russia is planning to develop a sports cooperation program for BRICS countries, Russian Minister of Sport Mikhail Degtyarev said at the BRICS sports ministers meeting in the Russian city of Kazan.
He noted that this document will become a fundamental basis for the development of cooperation between the BRICS countries in sports, to consolidate inalienable values, and to define the conditions for holding the BRICS Games.

The minister also said that Russia is ready to develop contacts in the field of sports to promote the formation of common approaches with BRICS partners in the format of anti-doping measures and in all other areas.
"We must stand together against attempts to use sport as a tool of pressure and discrimination on national or political grounds," he added.
The statement was made at the BRICS sports ministers' meeting, held in Kazan on Saturday.
