Mauritania is interested in food security cooperation with Russia and hopes for a visit by Russian entrepreneurs to the northwestern African country, a senior adviser to the Mauritanian Economy Ministry told Sputnik.
"Food safety is a matter of strategic importance for us. We face the problem of drought, and there are also security issues. I am sure that such cooperation will have a positive impact on our countries," Azeddine Ould Daddah said on the sidelines of the "Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum."
He expressed hope for a visit by Russia's business mission to Mauritania, saying that Moscow is able to offer goods that the African nation's entrepreneurs would be interested in purchasing.
The International Economic Forum of Russia and the countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (IOC) "Russia — Islamic World: KazanForum" is being held in Kazan, the capital of the Muslim-majority Russian region of Tatarstan, from May 14-19.
