Russian GDP Growth Accelerates to 5.4% in Q1, Statistics Service Says

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier said that macroeconomic indicators in Russia in the beginning of 2024 turned out to be higher than the forecasts of the government, the Central Bank and experts.

Russia’s GDP growth in the first quarter of 2024 has accelerated to 5.4% year-on-year, the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) said on Friday in its preliminary assessment.
"According to preliminary estimates, the index of physical volume of gross domestic product amounted to 105.4% in the first quarter of 2024 relative to the same period of 2023," the service said.
