Chad demanded immediate cessation of US military activities at a base in the African country.
The Chadian chief of staff of the air force has stated that he has not received any documents from the Americans "justifying their presence at the Adji Kosseï (BAK) Air Base" in Chad's capital, N'Djamena. According to General Idris Amin Ahmed, there is no legal framework to justify such a presence.
Earlier, US media reported that Chad had threatened the United States to break their defense agreement and asked American soldiers to leave the French base in the capital. The decision came after neighboring Niger terminated a military agreement with Washington.
There are French and American military bases in Chad. Recently, the country has expressed a willingness to diversify its partnerships.
