US Not Providing Any Assistance to Its Troops in Niger, US Congressman Says

Last month, Niger broke off a military agreement with the US that saw a US drone base set up in the north of the African country. Explaining their decision, Niger's military authorities said that the agreement had been imposed on the country and was not in the interests of the people.
American troops in Niger do not receive any help from the US, which at the same time hides the true essence of diplomatic relations with the African country, US Congressman Matthew Gaetz told the media.
The US military are not receiving medical supplies and are in imminent danger if an agreement is not reached between the US and Niger by the end of the month, he reportedly said.
According to the outlet, he noted that the Biden administration is engaged in a mass concealment of information and urgently needs to bring the troops home.

Earlier, the US media published a letter sent to the country's Congress by a senior US Air Force officer stationed in Niger, where he expressed concern about the actions of the US embassy in the African country, which he said were complicating the withdrawal of US troops.
According to the soldier, the American mission deliberately concealed intelligence information in order to maintain the appearance of good relations between the two countries.
After Niger broke off the military agreement with the US last month, Chad threatened Thursday to end the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) regarding the United States’ military presence in the African country.
