Felix Tshisekedi, the president of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), has appointed Judith Tuluka Suminwa as the nation's first female prime minister, the country's presidency said on Monday.
"This is the first woman to hold the prime minister's office in the DRC since the Congo gained independence. This move will support the positive masculinity [approach] advocated by President Felix Tshisekedi," the presidency said on X.
Tuluka served as planning minister in Sama Lukonde's government. She is also a member of the Union for Democracy and Social Progress party.
