The Ukrainian military has carried out strikes on polling stations in several parts of Kherson Region, regional election commissions said on Friday.
"The Ukrainian armed forces attacked the vicinity of the city of Kakhovka and the village of Brylivka... [in Kherson Region], where local [election] commissions were located. There were no victims in Kakhovka. There are victims in Brylivka, help is being provided to them. Thanks to the coordinated actions of the employees of the polling stations, the voters were evacuated from the buildings," the statement said.
Kherson Governor Vladimir Saldo said that two people were hurt in the Ukrainian strike on Brylivka.
"The strike on the village council building, which housed a polling station, left two civilians injured — a woman and a man. They are receiving the necessary medical care," Saldo said on social media.
The attacked building was evacuated. The governor said that the polling would continue elsewhere under enhanced security measures. He accused the government in Kiev of trying to stop the people in Kherson from voting but said that the turnout remained high.
