A Super Mushshak trainer aircraft belonging to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) experienced "a minor mishap" in Nigeria's northwestern Kaduna State, the NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, said.
He said that the incident occurred as the pilots were returning from a routine training session. However, Gabkwet added that both pilots "came out of the crash unscathed."
According to him, The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has ordered a preliminary investigation to establish the immediate cause of the crash.
Similar incidents include an accident that occurred in Port Harcourt in southern Nigeria in December 2023, when a NAF MI-35P helicopter made an emergency landing with five crew members injured.
Earlier, on August 14, 2023, the NAF plane took off from the school grounds en route to Kaduna, but was later found to have crashed in a village in Niger State in north-central Nigeria.
In addition, last July, an FT7-NI crashed in the city of Makurdi in the southeastern part of the country; no fatalities were reported.
