Guinea begins resupplying gasoline after the explosion of its main hydrocarbon depot in December, the country's Prime Minister, Bernard Goumou, said on social networks.
A total of 33 million liters of gasoline that arrived in the country's Conakry port by ship the day before, are transferred to the tanker trucks, the government said.
"A major step has been taken to restore gasoline supplies," the prime minister noted.
Ivory Coast to Send 50 Mln Liters of Fuel to Guinea Monthly Amid Shortage: Oil Firm
Earlier in the week, a ship carrying diesel oil had docked. The government said on Friday that, thanks to this arrival, the tanks had been filled and now contained more than 30,000 tons of diesel oil.
According to the authorities, this filling had been possible as a result of the accelerated rehabilitation of damaged infrastructure. Guinea has been experiencing a serious fuel shortage since the explosion and fire that hit the nation's reserves on the night of December 17 to 18, 2023. The explosion claimed the lives of 25 people and left 457 injured, according to the government.
