On December 18, an explosion at a fuel depot in Guinea's capital damaged most of the fuel tanks at the country's main oil terminal, causing widespread fuel shortages.
In the aftermath of the recent oil terminal blast, the Guinean government has announced anticipated substantial enhancements in the supply of fuel to gas stations.
"The government is pleased to announce to the population that, thanks to diplomatic efforts with neighboring countries, fuel supply in gas stations will see a marked improvement," the government said in a statement.
The government also ordered that gas stations limit sales to 25 liters per car, 5 liters per motorcycle, while filling cans is prohibited.
The December 18 explosion occurred in the Kaloum district, the commercial and administrative center of Conakry, where the presidential palace, many ministries, embassies, and banks are located.
The explosion killed at least 23 people and injured 285 others. According to the latest information from the authorities, 243 citizens have returned home and 42 are still receiving medical treatment.
