Equatorial Guinea's Vice President, Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue said he was impressed by what he saw in the Russian Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center, the Russian space agency Roscosmos reported.
During his visit to the training center, Nguema got to know the process of training Russian cosmonauts, examined a number of simulators and discussed with Roscosmos Head, Yuri Borisov cooperation in space. He also thanked the Russian side for the hospitality.
"Here we really understand how difficult this profession is and how difficult it is to prepare a person for flight. Having seen this, we understand that not everyone can go into space," the vice president said, noting that he sees great potential in cooperation with Russia.
Space exploration and thechnologies re among the key spheres of cooperation with Africa that Russia seeks to develop. In late November, Roscosmos and Mali signed a memorandum of understanding establishing a framework for cooperation in the use of satellites in various fields.
