A group of terrorists, who carried out an attack on Sunday on a supply convoy secured by the Burkinabe army on the Kaya-Dori axis in the country's North-Central region, were neutralized in the army strikes, the state-run Broadcasting Television of Burkina (RTB) revealed.
Since 2015, insecurity in this West African country has claimed many lives and displaced thousands of people. The Burkinabe army and its proxies, the Volunteers for the Defense of the Motherland (VDP), have multiplied operations against armed terrorist groups in the country, local observers recalled. In April 2023, the Burkinabe authorities declared a general mobilization in the country after a series of terrorist attacks.
Since the establishment of the Patriotic Support Fund, a fund set up in January by the transitional government to support the actions of the VDP in the fight against terrorism, 70 billion CFA francs (116 million dollars) have been raised, said the Burkinabe Minister of Economy, Aboubakar Nacanabo, Sunday evening on RTB.
Earlier, on November 26, the country's armed forces eliminated over 400 terrorists, who had attacked the country's the city of Djibo, the Burkina Faso Information Agency reported.
