Chinese Car Manufacture Dongfeng to Enter Algerian Market: Reports

Algeria is attracting various car manufacturers. Earlier this week, the Chinese state-owned automobile company Chery – the ninth largest automobile manufacturer in China – announced its entry into the Algerian market before the end of 2023.

The Chinese manufacturer Dongfeng Motor Corporation plans to make its entry on the Algerian market, reported the portal Auto-Utilitaire.
The manufacturer Dongfeng, known for its Mini-Truck type utility vehicles, has announced the upcoming marketing of its truck Captain W.
According to the technical sheet that the manufacturer revealed on the social media page of Dongfeng Algeria, the Captain W has a single or double cab, equipped with a 1.3-liter, 85-horsepower engine. The single cab version of this truck has a load capacity of 2.5 tons. As for the double cab variant, the load capacity is estimated at 3.5 tons.
Chinese Company to Produce Low-Cost Cars in Algeria
This Mini-Truck will sell for 190 million centimes (approximately US$14,120). Among the models announced for the Algerian market are also the Aeolus, the Huge, the TS Evo, the SX5, the Rich 6 pick-up, available in single and double cab variants, and the Uvan Cargo van, according to the Algerian press.
The access to the Chinese brand will be facilitated through a network of distribution agents spread throughout the country. Several showrooms will open in the coming weeks and months.
Dongfeng Motor Corporation, founded in 1969, is currently the third-largest Chinese state-owned automobile manufacturer.

Chery Already Present

The entry of another Chinese automobile giant, Chery, was announced at a press conference on November 9. Its seven models, which will be available in Algeria before the end of the year, have been designed with local needs in mind.
In addition, the manufacturer intends to start production in Algeria. Initially, 24,000 vehicles will be produced per year, rising to 100,000 in the third year to create a national export platform.
