South Sudan's president has dismissed the nation’s Finance Minister Dier Tong Ngor, a media outlet reported.
Bak Barnaba Chol, an economics graduate, would take over as finance minister, the president's spokesperson stated, adding that Kiir frequently reshuffles his government as he sees fit.
According to the spokesperson, the decision was made due to a recent decline in the value of the nation's national currency, the South Sudanese pound.
According to economic estimates, over the last two months, South Sudan's currency has lost around a third of its value versus the US dollar.
The economy of the country heavily depends on revenue from the sale of crude oil.
Moreover, it has faced significant challenges due to a civil war that lasted from 2013 to 2018.
