Mozambique’s Trade Minister Praises Second Russia-Africa Summit

The minister's remarks came from the margins of the Second Russia-Africa Summit, which is taking place in St. Petersburg on July 27-28 and aims to elaborate trajectories for the comprehensive development of relations between Russia and the African countries, including in the economic field.

The second Russia-Africa Summit held in the Russian city of St. Petersburg is an impressively organized event, bringing together numerous representatives of African nations, Silvino Moreno, Mozambique's Trade Minister told Sputnik Africa.

"It [the summit] is very well organized and congratulations go to Russia for having brought in a lot of African countries. We are impressed with the way it is happening and we are comfortable and happy with the services also," the minister remarked.

According to the minister, trade between Russia and Mozambique "has big potential" and strong entrepreneurs are needed to promote it "in all directions."
"We need to put our companies talking and the entrepreneurs must talk to each other and exchange ideas, exchange services and exchange commodities," Moreno noted.
The cabinet minister added that Mozambique will work together with Russia to launch its fertilizer production.

A day earlier, speaking at the summit, the President of Mozambique Filipe Jacinto Nyusi noted the significance of holding such an event, which confirms Moscow's intention to support for enhancing the role of the African continent in global decision-making process.
In May, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov visited Mozambique, where he announced Russia's readiness to supply Mozambique with military equipment to improve the country's defense potential and assist in the fight against terrorism.
