Ghana Targets Investment-Grade Credit Rating to Boost Local Business Financing: Finance Minister

The country aims to achieve top credit rating through its New Economy program to unlock long-term funding for local businesses following the 2022 debt default, Ghanaian Minister of Finance Cassiel Ato Forson said at a New Economy engagement in Accra.

A higher rating would reduce the cost of government borrowing and make long-term loans more affordable for Ghanaian companies, supported by a stronger corporate bond market, he noted.

However, reaching this financial milestone will require sustained economic stability, predictable policies, and a continued commitment to national reforms, the minister added.
