Russian Navy Conducts Anti-Piracy Drills With Seychelles & Joint Maneuvers With Cameroon

The operations involved the Pacific Fleet frigate Marshal Shaposhnikov and the Baltic Fleet training ship Perekop in separate maritime zones, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported.

Key details:

🟠Seychelles Drills: During the first-ever Russia-Seychelles naval exercise, the frigate operated alongside the Seychelles Coast Guard patrol ship Andromache. The crews practiced communications, joint maneuvering, and conducted an operation to free a civilian vessel conditionally captured by pirates.

🟠Cameroon Maneuvers: The training ship Perekop completed its port visit in Douala, Cameroon. Upon leaving the port, the crew conducted joint maneuvering exercises with the Cameroonian Navy's patrol boat P-108 before continuing its Atlantic voyage.

🟠Training Voyage Context: The "Perekop" is on a long-distance navigational voyage (running from July to mid-December 2026, spanning roughly 30,000 nautical miles) with cadets from Russia, Namibia, and the Republic of the Congo, with plans to embark Cameroonian cadets.
