Russia & Nigeria Agree to Build Gold Refinery
The Russian company MKAO Areal and the government of the Nigerian state of Niger have signed an agreement for the construction of a refinery in Minna, Nigeria, according to a statement from the Russian Trade Representative in Nigeria, Mali, Togo, and Burkina Faso.
The completion of this project is expected to:
create new jobs;
bring gold mining out of the informal sector;
increase federal and regional budget revenues.
The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the third Russia-Africa Summit.
