Africa and Asia Could Reshape Global Balance of Power by 2100: US Economist

The world’s economic and demographic center of gravity is set to shift toward Africa and Asia by the end of the century, Jeffrey Sachs said during a symposium in Varanasi, India.

Key projections for 2100:

▪75% of the world’s population could live in Africa and Asia combined.

▪Africa alone could account for around 30% of the global population and a similar share of the world economy.

▪India’s population could be twice that of China, potentially making it the world’s largest economy.
