The third Russia-Africa Summit has concluded, leaving the continent with a new action plan and a clear sense of direction. With commitments spanning trade, agriculture, digital technologies, health, and global financial reform, the focus now shifts to turning shared priorities into lasting results for people across Africa.
African leaders and senior representatives gathered in Moscow to strengthen ties and explore new areas of cooperation, with a new action plan for the coming years at the heart of the agenda. From food security and fertilizer supplies to technology transfer and vaccine production, the summit reflects a partnership grounded in mutual respect and shared development priorities.
Global South Pole spoke with John Jacob Kioria of the Kenyan Broadcasting Corporation and Thelma Tackie of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation about the significance of the event for the continent, the concrete benefits it can bring to farmers and young people, and how African audiences should measure its success.
Kioria emphasized that this is not a "begging bowl" summit but a meeting of equals, with Africa coming together to find a reliable partner in Russia and discuss the continent's development priorities without interference. He highlighted agriculture as a proven area of cooperation—pointing to improved food production in Kenya following Russian fertilizer supplies—and called for new markets in Russia for Kenyan tea, coffee, and flowers so that local farmers directly benefit. Tackie, reflecting on President Putin's address, welcomed the vision of a multipolar world where "average voices" and equal voices contribute to global progress, and argued that Africa brings real strength to the table—its young, dynamic workforce. She called for locally built food systems, shared Russian expertise in vaccine manufacturing so Africa does not "start from scratch," and cooperation on digital platforms so Africans can narrate their own stories.
"Africa has been seen as the continent that comes to engage developed nations with a begging bowl. This is not the approach of the Russia-Africa summit. This is Africa coming together and finding a reliable partner in Russia," John Jacob Kioria said.

"Any country, any bloc that wants to succeed cannot do so without Africa. That is the power that Africa brings to the table," Thelma Tackie concluded.
