'Sudan is a Gateway to Africa': Country Proposes Russia Establish Free Economic Zone on Red Sea
The zone could facilitate the supply of Russian goods not only to Sudan but also to other African countries, where demand for wheat and fuel remains high, Sudan's Sovereignty Council Chairman Abdel Fattah al-Burhan said during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Al-Burhan also proposed Russian participation in expanding Sudan's railway network and developing logistics routes for transporting goods. He emphasized that Sudan has the land and capacity for joint projects but requires infrastructure investment.
Additionally, he invited Russian companies to invest in copper, gold, and other mineral deposits, noting that Sudan has sites ready for development and maintains full control over its mineral resources.
