Rossiya Segodnya signed cooperation documents with major media outlets in Algeria, Chad, Morocco, Ghana and Zimbabwe, as well as with leading universities in Ethiopia and Niger, at a media forum in Moscow ahead of the Russia-Africa Summit. Agreements with the newspapers Le Jeune Independant and Alwihda Info and the news website Hespress provide for expanded content exchange in French and English. A partnership with the Ghana Broadcasting Company (GBC) will focus on exchanging audio content, while the memorandum with the Zimbabwean media group Zimpapers expands an existing cooperation agreement.
The memoranda of understanding with Debre Marcos University in Ethiopia and Niger’s Higher School of Journalism and Communication are aimed at developing expert dialogue, exchanging views and jointly holding specialized events.

"I think the very fact that today we were able to sign so many documents with partners from countries across the continent speaks for itself. I have no doubt that this cooperation will benefit both sides and, more importantly, will be conducted in a tolerant and respectful manner, as relations between equal partners who can teach each other a great deal," said Vasily Pushkov, director of international cooperation at Rossiya Segodnya, commenting on the signing ceremonies.

"Today’s signing is an important new stage in relations both between our media outlets and between our countries. It shows that we intend to further strengthen interaction in many areas—in particular, information exchange and professional training. The latter is especially important: training is necessary to sustain cooperation and develop journalists who today face many serious challenges. Sputnik has all the necessary qualities, resources and experience. I hope the agreements signed today will open the way to even closer and deeper cooperation, particularly in artificial intelligence—an area that is now one of the main priorities for our company and newsroom," Kamel Mansari, Director of Publication at Le Jeune Independant, added.

Ahmat Mahamat Yacoub Djamil, Director General of Alwihda Info, is convinced that "the signing of the cooperation agreement with Sputnik will encourage us to think on a larger scale and with greater foresight—in order to create a powerful and strong media space." Amin Alhassan, Director General of GBC, noted: "The agreement will allow us to access the Russian vision of events—both inside Russia and on the international stage. In Ghana we are overly dependent on Western assessments of international affairs. Now we will also be able to draw on the Russian point of view, which will help make our reporting more balanced."
"Zimpapers is very excited about this landmark partnership and is ready to begin implementing the activities envisaged by the agreement. It also opens up opportunities to bring authentic, undistorted stories about Zimbabwe and Russia to audiences in a variety of ways and regardless of physical borders," noted Gorden Tawanda Mwerenga, Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer at Zimpapers.
"We are delighted to formalize our partnership with Rossiya Segodnya today. This agreement is more than just an exchange of media materials; it is a new bridge of communication and trust between Morocco and Russia. At Hespress, we put professionalism and credibility first—this is our organization’s true capital. It is thanks to this unwavering commitment to our principles that we have taken leading positions not only in Morocco but across the region. Through this cooperation, we aim to exchange experience and knowledge that will help develop journalistic skills, reflect the true aspirations of our peoples and strengthen ties between Africa and Russia," Abderrahim El Asri, Editor-in-Chief of Hespress, commented.
Dr. Sayeh Kassaw Agegnehu, President of Debre Marcos University, hopes that the signed memorandum will help increase the number of master classes on AI for future journalists in Ethiopia:
"We should teach students to use artificial intelligence in digital media in a way that helps us in our daily work. Artificial intelligence was created by humans, so it cannot surpass the human mind; in my view, it should be under the control, management and guidance of the human mind."
People choose journalism out of social responsibility—to inform society and help communities make sense of complex issues that require professional training and knowledge, and SputnikPro helps us do that, highlighted Idrissa Ousseini, Director General of ESJ/C.
