Celebrating Victory of Democracy: Burundi Honors Memory of Melchior NdadayeBurundian President Évariste Ndayishimiye and key political figures paid tribute to former President Melchior Ndadaye on the 33rd anniversary of his assassination, a Sputnik Africa correspondent reported.Jacques Bigirimana, president of the National Forces of Liberation party, urged today’s youth to love their country as Ndadaye did and called on leaders to emulate his respect for human rights and public property.Melchior Ndadaye always advocated "for democracy, for the respect of human rights," Jean de Dieu Mutabazi, a comrade of the hero and president of the Rally of Democrats for Development in Burundi party, emphasized. The masterminds behind the assassination must be brought to justice to prevent a recurrence of such violence in Burundi, Phénias Niyigaba, vice-president of the Front for Democracy in Burundi party, added.Subscribe to @sputnik_africa Sputnik Africa | X
