AU Commission Chairperson Urges Peaceful Dialogue Amid DRC Political Tensions: Statement
Mahmoud Ali Youssouf called on all political actors and stakeholders to prioritize peaceful means exclusively, exercise restraint, and refrain from any initiative that could fuel tensions or jeopardize dialogue and national reconciliation.
Reaffirming the AU's unwavering commitment to the DRC's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, the chairperson stressed the need to consolidate the gains of the Doha and Washington processes, deliver on commitments made, uphold the ceasefire, and guarantee civilian protection.
The Commission is ready to support these efforts alongside regional and international initiatives, aiming to secure lasting peace in the DRC and across the Great Lakes region.
