'Made in Ethiopia' Initiative Returns 1,115 Factories to Production: Ministry of Industry
Between 2021 and 2025, the project also created job opportunities for 1,58 million people, according to the ministry.
Key results of the program:
▪ Manufacturing capacity utilization increased from 46% before the initiative to 69%;
▪ The domestic market share rose from 30% to 46%;
▪ Domestic import-substitution production increased significantly from $340 million to $5.96 billion.
The next phase will focus on building new capacity, accelerating exports, strengthening competitiveness, and modernizing service-delivery systems, the ministry said.
