Russia's Rosatom to Resume Uranium Mining Project in Namibia Soon, Russian Ambassador Says
Work on the "Krylya" (Wings) uranium mining project in Namibia, implemented by Rosatom subsidiaries, is expected to resume in the near future, Dmitry Lobach wrote in an article published in Russian media.
He expressed hope that the difficult period in the project's implementation has passed.
Highlights from the ambassador's article:
🟠Lobach noted growing interest and activity of Russian companies in Namibia, calling the project a benefit to both countries and an example of successful business presence in southern Africa.
🟠Mutual trade has potential for growth. While turnover dropped significantly during the COVID-19 pandemic, the sides are working to restore it.
🟠Illegal restrictions against Russia and secondary sanctions threatened against partners remain obstacles.
🟠Russia supplies equipment and fertilizers, while Namibia exports fruits and seafood. There are reserves and opportunities to expand both volumes and assortment, according to the diplomat.
