African Energy Week Special
Sputnik Africa
This Nnete Fela Show is centred around the all the happenings of the latest African Energy Week hosted by the African Energy Chamber with the ambitious goal to end energy poverty by 2030.
The conference brought together governments, private sector, and international partners to secure financing and technology for energy projects. We discuss the need for a diverse energy mix and true energy sovereignty in Africa. The show argues that Africa needs a mix of energy sources (fossil fuels, renewables, nuclear, LPG) and should manage its own energy transition rather than following Western models. We also discuss regional cooperation with countries like Zambia are positioning themselves as regional interconnectors, sharing electricity across borders through projects like the Zambia-Tanzania interconnector to improve energy resilience.Importantly the show emphasises the need for value addition and industrialisation. Rather than just exporting raw resources, African countries are developing industries. We explore Uganda's Kabalega Industrial Park which exemplifies this ambition. The park combines oil refining, petrochemicals, agro-processing and other industries to create jobs and stimulate economic growth.Leader of the African Energy Chamber NJ Ayuk joins the show to discuss Africa’s most pressing energy needs. When asked what three words capture Africa’s energy landscape he said.Tune into this Nnete Fela Show to find out more.► Listen to all episodes of the Nnete Fela Show.► Check out this podcast on your favorite platforms: Apple Podcasts | Castbox | Deezer | Spotify | Pocket Casts | Podcast Addict | Afripods

African Energy Week Special
14:19 13.10.2026 (Updated: 14:38 02.11.2026) This Nnete Fela Show is centred around the all the happenings of the latest African Energy Week hosted by the African Energy Chamber with the ambitious goal to end energy poverty by 2030.
We also discuss regional cooperation with countries like Zambia are positioning themselves as regional interconnectors, sharing electricity across borders through projects like the Zambia-Tanzania interconnector to improve energy resilience.
Importantly the show emphasises the need for value addition and industrialisation. Rather than just exporting raw resources, African countries are developing industries.
We explore Uganda's Kabalega Industrial Park which exemplifies this ambition. The park combines oil refining, petrochemicals, agro-processing and other industries to create jobs and stimulate economic growth.
Leader of the African Energy Chamber NJ Ayuk joins the show to discuss Africa’s most pressing energy needs. When asked what three words capture Africa’s energy landscape he said.
“Gas, infrastructure development, and lastly, human resource development, because the people are everything that you need to move to the next stage,” Ayuk argues.
