Russia Concerned Over Drone Use, Foreign Mercenaries in DR Congo Conflict: Deputy UN Envoy
Continued fierce clashes in eastern DR Congo cast doubt on the parties' interest in abandoning military methods, Russian Deputy Permanent Representative Anna Evstigneyeva told the UN Security Council.
The diplomat expressed particular concern over the intensive use of UAVs, which indicates a change in the military nature of the conflict.
Foreign mercenaries, who are usually used as instructors and drone operators, are also reportedly taking direct part in combat on the contact line, Evstigneyeva noted.
