Uganda Marks 64 Years of Independence, Eyes Stronger Ties With Russia at Upcoming Summit: Ambassador

Uganda’s independence anniversary also marks 64 years of diplomatic relations with Russia, Moses Kawaaluuko Kizige, Uganda's Ambassador to Russia, told Sputnik Africa.

Good political relations between Russia and Uganda are one of the reasons for the country's strength on the African continent, he noted at an event dedicated to Uganda's Independence Day, which took place at the embassy in Moscow.

At the third Russia-Africa Summit in Moscow, Uganda is seeking new agreements in infrastructure development, oil and gas, and finance, Science Minister Jonard Asiimwe Akiiki emphasized.

Echoing that vision, Chad’s Ambassador Mahamoud Adam Bechir praised the upcoming event, describing Russia-Africa relations as a win-win partnership built on mutual respect and true independence.
