'We Will Not Stop at Kidal; It's Just a Stage,' Says Malian Army Chief of Staff After Retaking Key City
Less than a week after recapturing Kidal from terrorist control, the Malian Armed Forces' (FAMa) Major General Jean Élisée Dao visited the area to assess the situation and congratulate the units involved in the offensive.
The general stressed that operations will continue in other sectors to dislodge remaining armed groups.
Since FAMa's departure from the city in late April, the army had been preparing its return, with a strategy of weakening the enemy's logistics and weaponry before launching the offensive, Dao recalled.
The general praised the planning that limited losses and thanked local and strategic partners, particularly noting the support of the Russian Africa Corps.
