'You Can Be a Woman' and 'Lead a Country': Congolese Expert on International Day of Girl Child

Gender inequality still exists in society, so work must be done at various levels, particularly within families and at school, Bénie B. Koy, co-founder of Women in Tech in the DRC, told Sputnik Africa on the sidelines of the 2nd Global Digital Forum.

According to her, it is necessary to:

▪ raise awareness among parents and educators;

▪ broaden the horizons of girls;

▪ introduce them to different professions;

▪ give them access to information.

Her message to girls is simple: "You have to be bold" and not be afraid to enter professions supposedly reserved for men.

"You can be a woman or a man and create solutions," she concluded.

ℹ International Day of the Girl Child is celebrated on October 11th.
