Morocco's Migration Cooperation With Spain Reaches Its Limits: Moroccan King
Speaking at the opening of parliament, Mohammed VI blamed "obsolete" and "unrealistic" Spanish court decisions for hindering migration cooperation.
Morocco's partnership with Spain rests on a sovereign choice and would never be vulnerable to pressure, threats or blackmail, he added.
At least 70,000 people crossed from Morocco into Ceuta in July. While most have returned, thousands, including minors, remain.
"They are regrettably impeding the repatriation of minors and of fake asylum seekers, while fueling the greed of criminal networks," he was quoted as saying.
Spanish opposition parties have blamed Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez's government for the crisis and accused Rabat of facilitating the crossings.
