Rwanda's Economy Surges 9.7% in First Half of 2026: Central Bank

Driven by expansion in industry—including construction and manufacturing—as well as services and agriculture, the country recorded strong economic growth despite challenges, central bank governor Soraya Hakuziyaremye said on Thursday.

Economic Growth by Sector:

• 15.5% — Industry

• 7.4% — Services

• 5.9% — Agriculture

The bank projects 7.8% GDP growth for 2026, but warned that the ongoing Middle East conflict could disrupt international trade, raise transport and production costs, and weaken external demand.
