Sudan's Al-Burhan Rules Out Talks With Rebel RSF, Vows to Fight Until Total Defeat
"We have no negotiations with anyone, we are not speaking with anyone, and we have nothing to do with anyone," Abdel Fattah al-Burhan told a crowd in the northern town of Amri.
The army would fight on until it defeats the RSF across Darfur, Kordofan, and Blue Nile, al-Burhan said, stressing that decisions on war and peace lie with state institutions, not individual leaders.
Key recent military gains include:
🟠North Kordofan: The army recaptured Al-Mazroub, Sodari, Um Sharo, and at least 11 other areas, choking RSF logistics lines.
🟠West Kordofan: Forces advancing toward En Nahud and Al Khuway as the paramilitary RSF masses in response.
🟠South Kordofan: The army secured strategic areas on the El-Obeid–Dilling highway amid clashes with the RSF and its allied SPLM-N factions.
The war, which began in April 2023, has repeatedly defied regional and international mediation efforts. Khartoum has rejected peace initiatives it says seek to legitimize the externally supported rebel militia, including a recent US-led attempt to impose a nationwide no-fly zone at the UN Security Council, which Russia opposed.
The government argues such proposals come at times when the army is advancing, effectively blocking military progress, while RSF supporters remain silent on the rebel militia's violations.
