African Salon of Invention and Enterprise Innovation Helps Motivate Continent's Youth: Official
The fair is bringing together innovators and investors from 17 countries in Niamey, where it rewards deserving inventors and connects them with funding, Salamatou Ousmane Issifou, a member of the event's organizing committee, told Sputnik Africa.
Why it matters for young people: Issifou noted that
Most young people in Niger lack support and fail to protect their creativity.
The salon teaches them how to safeguard their inventions and secure funding.
In their words:
"The salon is primarily a meeting place where our Nigeriens come to showcase their creative genius. This is very positive, especially since the Innovation Salon is coupled with an award that the president of the republic will present to the fortunate winner to further motivate research and innovation in Niger," Abdourahamane Boukari, a vocational training teacher, added.
Hosting such an event is crucial for Africa, since it highlights the inventiveness of African researchers and academics while expanding the continent's reach continentally and globally, Mafini Dosso, president of the Ivorian International Organization for Innovation in Sustainable Territories and Industries, noted.
The 10th edition of the African Salon of Invention and Enterprise Innovation (SAIIT 2026) is taking place from October 5 to 7.
