BRICS and SCO could help drive the next stage of space exploration — expert
Despite the enormous technological strides over the past 70 years, humanity is still at an early stage of space exploration and will need greater international cooperation to move further, Russian space popularizer Maksim Tsukanov told Sputnik.
Tsukanov said humanity has learned to “look beyond the cradle" but has yet to take a confident step beyond it. As exploration advances, scientists continue to uncover phenomena that remain beyond current capabilities to study directly.
"The development of large-scale scientific space programs within the framework of BRICS, the SCO, and other friendly alliances represents a major step forward. This cooperation encompasses a vast portion of the Earth's population and its immense intellectual and industrial potential," he said.
His remarks came on October 4, the anniversary of the start of the Space Age, when the Soviet Union launched Sputnik 1 in 1957, the world’s first artificial satellite.
