21st Century Could Become 'African Century' if Continent Develops Joint Work: El-Sisi
Other key statements of the Egyptian president Abdel Fattah el-Sisi at Alamein Africa Forum:
▪ The forum serves as a strategic continental platform to mobilize efforts toward the AU's Agenda 2063 goals and strengthen joint African action.
▪ It gives the African business community a chance to engage with heads of state, discuss private-sector challenges and build cross-border partnerships to accelerate economic integration.
▪ The private sector is one of the main drivers of African economies, accounting for more than 70% of the continent's GDP.
▪ Around 85% of African private-sector operations are conducted by companies based outside Africa.
▪ More than 50% of small and medium-sized enterprises lack sufficient information about opportunities in neighboring African markets, pushing them to seek trade on more distant international markets.
▪ The forum is intended to become an institutional bridge to overcome isolation and narrow the information gap between the continent's countries.
▪ Holding the first forum alongside the 8th Ordinary Coordination Meeting of AU Heads of State and Government demonstrates the link between political and economic cooperation.
▪ Africa is a young and dynamically developing continent, with youth making up around 65% of the population, alongside significant natural and human resources.
▪ The main goal is to build modern states capable of adapting to rapid global economic change and shaping a fairer, more sustainable future.
