Coexistence With Africa is 'Absolutely Normal Part of Our Russian Civilization,' Says Russian Politician
Russians contributed their talent and knowledge to the construction of remarkable Art Deco buildings in Casablanca, roads and bridges in the Belgian Congo, the automotive industry in SA, and various agricultural projects in Madagascar, VP of the Russian International Affairs Council think tank Mikhail Margelov told Sputnik Africa at the opening of the exhibition "Under the Sky of My Africa" in Moscow.
Upcoming Russia-Africa Forum
The third Russia-Africa forum, to be held in Moscow in late October, would give a new impetus to the development of Russia-Africa cooperation in culture and education, he expressed hope.
Academic Cooperation
At the Institute of Asian and African Countries, where he heads a department, an agreement on cooperation with two universities in Morocco is next in line for signing, Margelov added.
A 'Truly Unique' Collector
Discussing the Eddy Novarro collection, the politician described him as a truly unique collector, saying that when a collector pours their soul and themselves into a collection, the resulting exhibition becomes entirely unique.
Novarro, as an artist, had a subtle feel for harmony and the spirit of Africa, he noted.
The exhibition includes pieces Novarro acquired on his African travels with Pablo Picasso and other elder friends, whom he later photographed, Director of the Polenovo Museum-Estate Natalia Polenova told Sputnik Africa.
