Putin: Center-2026 Drills Focus on Repelling External Aggression
18:21 02.10.2026 (Updated: 18:30 02.10.2026) President Vladimir Putin said the central objective of the Center-2026 and CSTO Interaction-2026 exercises is to train command staffs and troops to respond to an external military threat.
“All tasks are being carried out taking into account the experience of the special military operation,” Putin said at the Chebarkul training ground. More than 47,000 troops are involved across 11 training grounds and the Caspian Sea, with new weapons and equipment being tested in practice.
Putin also highlighted the broad foreign presence, saying delegations from 55 countries had arrived in Russia.
