Speaking at the Valdai Discussion Club, President Vladimir Putin outlined Russia’s view of the global transition, arguing that the world is entering a period of major transformation.
🟠 Global order
▪ East and West, North and South will eventually have to agree on the principles of a new world order
▪ Many old international rules have been discarded, while new ones have not yet emerged
▪ The path toward a multipolar world carries risks, and the main task is to prevent catastrophic scenarios
🟠 Global institutions
▪ International organizations created after World War II no longer fully reflect today’s balance of power
▪ Russia supports UN reform to better represent the diversity of the modern world, but such changes require consensus
▪BRICS and other new associations will contribute to building a multipolar system
🟠 Technology and warfare
▪ Humanity has yet to learn how to live with artificial intelligence
▪ AI in military systems raises new risks and requires international discussion on rules of warfare
▪ Human judgment must remain central in decisions involving advanced technologies
🟠 Ukrainian conflict
▪ Russia was “drawn into” the Ukraine conflict and was forced to respond militarily
▪ Putin called for countries to work together to find solutions and avoid further escalation
▪ Russia is developing its own path while remaining open to cooperation with other countries
