60 Years of Freedom: Botswana’s Independence Carnival Lights Up Its Capital
The commemoration began Tuesday with a military parade, filling Gaborone with ceremonial marching formations, displays of the national colors, and honor guards.
Among the dignitaries joining the people of Botswana to mark the historic national milestone were Botswana’s President Duma Gideon Boko and Mozambican President Daniel Francisco Chapo.
"Our challenge now is to build a more diversified, productive, inclusive, and prosperous Botswana, creating jobs, expanding opportunity, and ensuring our natural wealth delivers a better quality of life for every Motswana," Boko said on social media.
