Botswana's enduring peace, democracy, and rise to one of Africa's highest GDP per capita nations — underpinned by free education, healthcare, and social services — remain a deep source of national pride, Karabo Phenyo Thejane, who studies in Russia, told Sputnik Africa at an event marking the country's 60th independence anniversary.
Untapped Potential in Russia Ties
Speaking about Russia-Botswana relations, he highlighted strong potential for deeper cooperation in the diamond and energy sectors, alongside valuable skills transfer through Russian scholarships in medicine and engineering.
Call for Continental Unity
Thejane also called on African nations to prioritize continental integration over regional blockades, stressing the urgent need for seamless trade, visa-free travel, and free movement across the continent.
