On this Nnete Fela Show, we explore how to solve Africa's food security challenges and talk to economist Modibo Macalou about what it will take to make Africa truly unstoppable.
We start by unpacking the solutions to Africa’s rampant food security problems and discuss how Africa can reduce its external vulnerabilities when it comes to food production.
We focus particularly on the role of non-state actors by talking to Chikondi Chabvuta-Mkawa, Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Program Non-State Actors Group chairperson.
Chikondi maintains that effective collaboration is a vital part of the efforts necessary to build a secure African food system.
“It is about ensuring everybody who is doing bits of work across the continent are working together and not in parallel, not in competition,” Chikondi says.
Later in the show we discuss the idea of an Unstoppable Africa. The continent is imbued with natural resources which should make it one of the world’s major economic and political powers.
Malian economist Modibo Macalou also joins the show to discuss how the Unstoppable Africa can be found.
