Burkina Faso’s Agro-Pastoral Offensive Achieves Historic Agricultural Development: Traoré
While more than 80% of Burkinabè are farmers, the objective of the agro-pastoral offensive was to "enable these people to make a living from their profession," Ibrahim Traoré told local media.
ℹ The agro-pastoral offensive is a package of measures to stimulate agricultural production initiated by Burkina Faso's president in 2023.
Tractors, Seeds, and Fertilizers
To achieve this, the government deployed tractors to municipalities—some provided free of charge, others at heavily reduced prices—and subsidized seeds and fertilizers to ensure affordability, Traoré explained.
A Bumper Harvest
Thanks to these measures and good rainfall in 2023-2024, production increased significantly, the president noted, praising it as "great progress."
