Burkina Faso's Traoré Urges ECOWAS to Cooperate With Moscow, Citing 'Much to Gain' From Partnership
Russia "has never colonized Africa" and instead helped many African countries decolonize at a given time, making it a partner that can help, the Burkinabe president said in a wide-ranging interview marking his four years in power.
The Russian Federation is "much further ahead" than the Sahel States Alliance in technological and industrial development, Ibrahim Traoré noted.

"If ECOWAS thinks it can benefit greatly from its cooperation with Russia, that is a very good thing. I encourage them to do so," he added.
In recent years, Moscow has intensified its partnership with Ouagadougou in economic, security, trade, and industrial spheres.
In August, during talks in Moscow with Ghana's Foreign Minister, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Russia would sign a cooperation memorandum with ECOWAS.
