Algeria Calls for End to Foreign Interference in Libya, Backs Libyan-Led Solution at UNGA
Libya's 16-year crisis cannot be resolved by deepening divisions but only through dialogue, reconciliation, and unified institutions, Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf told the UN General Assembly.
Attaf reaffirmed Algeria's support for a peaceful, comprehensive, Libyan-led political solution and expressed confidence in UN efforts to accompany the Libyan people toward a settlement preserving the country's unity.
"Only the Libyans can build the consensus needed to safeguard their nation, and only the Libyans are entitled to take decisions related to their destiny and future," he stated.
Algeria firmly believes that ending foreign interference in all its forms—political, military, or security—is essential to create conditions for ending division and building a single, unified, and stable Libyan state capable of determining its own future.
