US Spending on Iran Conflict Could Fund Year of Fighting Hunger in Africa: Sputnik Analysis
The US spent approximately $38 billion on the Middle East campaign by August 1, with each subsequent month costing $2-3 billion, according to a report by the US Congressional Budget Office reviewed by Sputnik.
Ending hunger in Africa requires $39–50 billion in annual investments until 2030, Oleg Kobyakov, head of the FAO's Russian branch, told Sputnik.
Globally, eradicating costs $267 billion yearly, with Sub-Saharan Africa requiring the largest share of assistance, he noted.
